The authorities of the Canton Grisons are drawing a positive conclusion: The 44th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos once again took place under optimum conditions. The Canton Grisons as host and Davos as convention venue offered ideal framework conditions for the WEF and many other events within Davos.
As a result, the Canton Grisons and Davos affirmed the significance of the convention venue and further reinforced the reputation of Switzerland as a secure and peaceful location for dialog and exchanging ideas on current economic and political challenges.
The 2014 annual meeting of the WEF was again well attended. Some 2,500 leading personalities from business, politics, and science gathered in the Grisons mountains. Four Federal Councilors as well as several members of the Government of the Canton Grisons took advantage of the opportunity to network within a national and international environment.
This year, the forces of the security network faced new challenges: For one, about 70 of the approximately 250 persons requiring protection under international law were protected. Furthermore, the security zone had to be expanded to include a new hotel. The WEF Committee for the Government of the Canton Grisons is pleased to note that the entire week was quiet. The demonstrations on both Friday and Saturday were peaceful.
The World Economic Forum in Davos would not be possible without the support of numerous partners and the local populace. The WEF Committee for the Government of the Canton Grisons would like to extend its thanks to all participants, and in particular to the security forces of the police, the armed forces, and the border guard.
